Product Description
The Sims 2 is the next generation of the bestselling PC franchise. For the first time, players control their Sims over an entire lifetime from womb to tomb. Every choice you make has a relevant and dramatic effect on the life of your Sim. More life-like Sims, all-new gameplay and the ground-breaking addition of genetics gives players a more vivid and in-depth Sims experience. Guiding your Sims through "Life`s Big Moments" takes on new importance, as players now get a "Life Score" to measure how well they are playing each individual Sim. The decisions that players make throughout the lifetime of their Sims now have an impact on their long-term success or failure. A choice made as a toddler has a direct effect on the teen and adult Sim they become. Will players be able to successfully lead their Sims through such important events as a first step, first crush, or marriage proposal, all while the clock is ticking? The Sims in The Sims 2 are more aware and responsive to both other Sims and their surroundings. Sims truly come to life expressing moods and feelings through more realistic body animations and for the first time facial animations. They form complex relationships and are able to distinguish between family and friends, platonic friendships and romantic love. Sims in The Sims 2 now have DNA. Passing along physical characteristics and traits to their offspring, Sims both resemble and behave like their ancestors. As in real life, the appearance of the Sims now changes over time. In addition to getting older, a Sim that spends too much time on the couch will develop a paunch and a Sim that works out will enjoy rock solid abs. An entirely new 3-D engine makes the world of The Sims 2 more life-like and dynamic. The Sims 2 will also introduce an all-new "Create-a-Sim" feature. This allows you to customise the facial features of your Sim with a few simple clicks, to a level of detail never realised b
Amazon.co.uk Review The original The Sims is the best selling PC game ever but after four years and seven expansion discs it's finally starting to look a bit long in the tooth. As the first official sequel almost everything in The Sims 2 has been expanded and improved on from the original, even if the basic idea remains the same: to create and control the lives of your virtual characters. The entire scope of the game has now increased--your characters age and give birth to children. Sims remain children only for a few weeks, before spending most of the game as adults and then eventually dying and the game carrying on with their children and grandchildren--if they have any. Another big new feature of the game is the introduction of specific "aspirations" for your sim, which can be anything from a specific career to marrying a particular person. Each sim also has their own "fears", which can be anything from living alone to losing their hair. Which of these situations end up coming true becomes the main influence on whether your sim is happy, the attainment of which is the only true goal in the game. Apart from all these new features the graphics have been severely overhauled are now in full 3D and more in line with the recent console spin-offs. This is a must buy for anyone that's ever enjoyed the original titles, but the new features should also be enough to entice sceptics to the fold as well. --David Jenkins

sims 2 pc game August 18, 2010 Tracey Elgar (UK) got this game for my daughter, she loves it!!! it arrived very quickly will buy from seller again.
Sims 2 August 3, 2010 D. Waldron (Ireland) Game was received in good condition but without the code which I had to borrow off someone else who had the game.
The best computer game of its kind! June 11, 2010 L. Sefton (UK) First of all I would like to say that I have never played Sims (Original) or Sims 3 so I am completely unbiased on that front! Starting off, price. I orginally saw the Sims 1 in a second hand shop near my house, and seeing as I had never played a sims game, I thought that because it was a only a few quid I might as well invest. After getting home and being surprisingly dissapointed when I realised the copy didn't contain the right CD (shops fault, not the games), I decided to spend a little extra and purchase Sims 2 from Amazon instead. As it happens, I'm really glad I did, the value of this game today is fantastic.
I think I'm one of the more modern reviews which obviously means things have moved on in the PC game world. However, a plus of this is that I have played my copy of Sims 2 on 3 fairly new computers and all of them have had it working perfectly. This means that for anyone thinking of buying it but put off by older reviews claiming it is a bit slow, don't panic! It has worked really smoothly on everything I've tried and I think its safe to say that those issues are in the past now. As far as graphics are concerned, though I admit to not being a particulary hardcore gamer, they seem really, really good. At first, it even astounded me at the level of detail in everything from characters to furniture. I have been told that Sims 3s graphics are EVEN better but though I am sure to be proved wrong, I can't see how it could improve much.
Next, game play! Though I'd heard a lot about Sims before I bought it, i actually held back because the only times I'd actually seen it being played was on the Nintendo DS version and the version for Wii, both which I found seriously dull and repetitive. I would like to stress to anyone who has encountered these game that, yes, they are crap but Sims for PC is a HEEE-OUGE step up. At first it can be quite confusing - it took me quite while the first time to establish balancing everything in my Sims life by which time my Sim has got old and died. HOWEVER, second time round it was a whole lot easier and I had great fun...and don't worry if you'd rather not let your Sim die at all, you can always choose to turn aging off altogether. I'm not a big fan of cheats but I think its a more relaxing game without it.
I can't really comment on any changes from Sims but I know that a few included Neighbourhoods and Aspiration bars. Looking on the back of the box, controling an entire neighbourhood sounded a bit daunting but in actual fact, its more that you make the neighbourhood and then have different houses which act as different save slots. You can have a family in each home which can then move out when they want to, into different houses in the same neighbourhood. Aspiration Bars are also pretty neat, giving you points everytime you complete something your Sim wants and giving you more of a drive to make your Sims more intelligent or less of a social leper. I also love the creating of your house! You can use the computer generated ones but I like to make my own and see my entire neighbour when it is filled in with houses all designed by myself.
One thing I would advise is starting with one Sim, rather than the conventional 4, or even 3. First time, I found 2 kept you pretty busy but it did make sharing jobs easier. However, I think 1 is a good start, especially if you want to marry them off because then their partner will have to move in and become under your control as well. Overall, i LOVE this game and the only downer is that I find myself playing it when I'm supposed to be doing work! I hear there are also a lot of extension packs so I'm off to get them!
SIMS 2 still the tops! May 17, 2010 Pete Ralph (Chertsey, UK) First purchased this several years ago for one of my grandaughters and her computer was only just up to it. She still loved it though. Today's computers make it easy.
So far three of the grandaughters play it, together with the various add-ons. Bought this copy for the one who wants to be a Vet, she's already bought the Vet add-on herself.
A game to be enjoyed.
daughter's sims game September 4, 2009 Ms. R. Richrdson (Northumberland) although I purchased this for my daughter. I love watching her play it. She spends hours using the game and has a few of these Sims games. This one we had trouble getting a hold of and I was delighted to spot it on sale here.
She thoroughly enjoys it and I would reccommend this site to anyone.
