Hello Tosh September 2, 2010 steady 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The main reason for purchasing this product was the need to reduce my dvd collection in size & because this plays AVI ,Divx ect,And after a bit of DVD converting on the PC I now have about 4-5 films or a series on one disc & the playback quality is I think brilliant, So for the price + delivery I would Recommend it to anybody...
Works perfectly September 1, 2010 D. Eves 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I needed a replacement DVD player and one that plays multi-region as I have bought cheap DVDs when abroad. Plug in, add the code mentioned by other reviewers and play away. The monitor seems perfectly big enough and there is no noise as mentioned by other reviews. Looks good, inexpensive and works everytime, including the USB port. Excellent buy.

An Excellent DVD player! August 30, 2010 Antonis103 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a DivX 6.0 certified DVD player which (besides your DVD collection) can playback divx, xvid, mpeg2, mp3 and jpg files recorded either on CD's, DVD's or on flash memories (USB memory sticks or if you use a card reader it can also read memory cards).
MP3 playback supports files with a bit rate up to 320Kbps and JPG playback supports photos with a resolution up to 5760x3840 pixels.
This DVD player can also be used as an MP3 converter. Just load an audio CD and connect a flash memory. Then you have the option to choose between normal and high speed converting with four different quality settings. It even creates ID3 tags whenever available on the source audio CD.
I had connected my MP3 player to the USB port in order to convert an audio CD to MP3 and to my surprise the MP3 player was charging while connected to the port! (I assume that portable Hard Disk Drives powered by the USB port could also be connected).
I was also surprised to see that Divx subtitles are supported for almost all European languages. But firstly you have to choose the desired language from the "divx subtitles setup menu". There are five language groups available:
1. Standard: Albanian, Danish, Dutch, English, French, Gaelic, German, Italian, Kurdish (Latin), Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.
2. Central European: Albanian, Croat, Czech, Dutch, English, German, Hungarian, Irish, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Slovene and Sorbian.
3. Cyrillic: Bulgarian, Belorussian, English, Macedonian, Moldavian, Russian, Serbian and Ukrainian
4. Greek: English and Modern Greek.
5. Hebrew: English and Modern Hebrew.
Nice specifications so far but unfortunately this DVD player can access only 500 files. It may seem strange but it's something that I have experienced and is also mentioned in the instruction manual. Regardless if you use CD, DVD, or flash memory its better to make sure that the media you are using contains no more than 500 files in total, otherwise some of them will not appear at all. For example, let's assume that you have a memory card from your digital camera containing 3 folders with 300 photos in each folder. Connecting the memory card to your DVD player will show you that the first folder contains 300 photos, the second 200 and the third folder would appear as empty! (I have tested this DVD player only with 2GB flash memories -memory sticks and SD cards. Note that the instruction manual states that it can read both FAT16 and FAT32 memories but it can't read NTFS formatted memories).
Another minor thing to keep in mind is that divx movies with 24fps cannot be played back on this DVD. Only the standard frame rate movies (25fps or 30fps) can be played back. (This is something that will rarely happen but if a movie won't play remember to check its frame rate).
Keep in mind also that if you wish to watch just a part of a movie and the rest at some other time, then you should remember the time where you stopped the movie, so to be able to find it easily. Unfortunately, there is no resume function and the movie will always start from the beginning whenever you turn on the DVD player.
Finally, if you have a 16:9 TV remember -as soon as you connect the DVD player- to use the setup menu in order to change the TV setting from 4:3 (default) to 16:9 in order to get the best picture possible. Let me mention also that if you are watching a 4:3 DVD and the picture won't fill the whole TV screen then you may have to change the "View Mode" which scales an image so that it fits the TV screen's width and height. The six available options are: Fill, Original, Height Fit, Width Fit, Auto Fit and Pan Scan.
Overall, besides some small drawbacks, this is simply an exceptional DVD player!
